Woman Scams Five Citizens Out of a Significant Amount

Investigators have completed the pre-trial investigation concerning a woman who caused damages exceeding 48 thousand UAH to her victims. The indictment has been sent to court, and the offender faces imprisonment.

The fraudster operated in a market in the Peresyp district, posing as a gadget and appliance repair expert while offering her services. Five trusting citizens left their phones, tablets, and a vacuum cleaner, which needed charging repairs, with her. Promising quick returns, the "specialist" took the devices and disappeared.

This led to total losses for the victims exceeding 48 thousand UAH.

After waiting in vain for their property, the victims turned to the police. Thanks to the actions of officers from Police Station No. 2 of the Odessa District Police Department No. 1, the offender, a 36-year-old local resident, was identified and tracked down. She managed to sell the vacuum cleaner and two phones, but the police located all the stolen items and returned them to their owners.

The investigators gathered sufficient evidence and charged the suspect under parts 1 and 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for obtaining someone else's property by deception, specifically repeated fraud. The indictment has been submitted to court, and the offender faces up to three years in prison.

The investigation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odessa.

Police urge citizens to be more cautious and to use the services of verified specialists and official service centers.
