New Greenhouse Complex in Vynohradyvka

A farmer from Vynohradyvka village in the Bolhrad community, Yurii Siurma, is set to build a greenhouse complex on community land. The Bolhrad City Council supported his initiative, and after conducting an open land auction, Yurii secured the right to lease eight hectares of land for his agricultural project.

Yurii Siurma is a farmer with six years of experience specializing in organic vegetable cultivation without chemical fertilizers. Last year, he successfully grew produce on three hectares and decided to expand his operations.

“I wanted to scale up, so I approached the city council. They supported my idea, organized a land auction, and I was able to win it,” said Yurii Siurma.

The entrepreneur plans to grow zucchini, strawberries, watermelons, corn, and tomatoes. All produce will be organic, which, according to the farmer, is a significant challenge in a region where traditional agrochemicals dominate.

“We want to bring back the taste of real vegetables to Ukrainians and restore trust in food. So that people know: this is not “water with foam plastic,” but a natural product grown with care,” the farmer notes.

The first harvest from the new plot is expected after the preparatory work is completed. This year, the farm will focus on establishing irrigation systems, preparing the soil, and developing the infrastructure. Yurii Siurma also thanked the mayor, Serhii Dymytriev, for assistance with organizational issues, particularly regarding water supply.

In the long term, the project will create 20-30 permanent jobs for community residents.

“Don’t hesitate to approach the authorities with your ideas. If one door doesn’t open, another will surely be found,” Yurii advises those who dream of starting their own business.

The Bolhrad City Council emphasizes that the development of local entrepreneurship and support for proactive residents is one of the community's priorities.
