International Recovery Forum: New Horizons for Ukraine

On April 16, an International Recovery Forum took place in Kyiv, bringing together representatives from the Ukrainian government, international organizations, and local authorities. The focus was on collaborative efforts to rebuild the country.

The forum was opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Community Development Oleksiy Kuleba, who emphasized the crucial role of communities in ensuring the country's resilience.

Kuleba also announced financial support for frontline communities — 1.5 billion hryvnias last week and another 1.8 billion this week. Participants discussed recovery strategies, with international partners confirming their readiness to continue support, including through UNDP and Japan, which has already provided over $12 billion to Ukraine.

From the Odesa region, Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Andriy Figel, participated in the forum.

Key highlights of the forum:

— Communities are the foundation of resilience. They are the first to face the challenges of war, providing essential services and support to both civilians and military;

— The "Shoulder to Shoulder" initiative. Over 450 communities have united to implement joint recovery projects, from schools to healthcare facilities;

— Financial support for frontline regions. The government allocated 3.3 billion hryvnias for shelters, equipment, and critical infrastructure;

— International support. Japan has already provided Ukraine with over $12 billion. UNDP and other partners are enhancing their assistance;

— The DREAM digital ecosystem. Modern digital tools allow for monitoring recovery progress, overseeing projects, and increasing transparency.

Cohesion is strength. It helps maintain unity, build future strategies, and reconstruct the country even in the most challenging conditions.

Organizers of the forum:

The Ministry of Community Development of Ukraine, the UN Development Program (UNDP), with financial support from the Government of Japan.
