Merging Maritime Universities in Odesa
The two leading maritime educational institutions in Odesa have decided to join forces. This decision was made during a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the administration of the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy” and Odesa National Maritime University.
At the meeting held at the NU “Odesa Maritime Academy”, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi discussed the merger with the heads of both universities. They agreed that merging the institutions is a necessary step.
Key issues were discussed during the meeting, including the timeline for the merger, management details, and other important aspects of creating the new university.
The primary goal of this merger is to establish a strong modern maritime university in Ukraine, enhancing the quality of maritime education overall.
It was previously reported that the maritime academy was to be integrated into the maritime university, which met with resistance from the academy's leadership.
