16 Days Against Violence Campaign in Ukraine
Every year in Ukraine, from November 25 to December 10, the campaign '16 Days Against Violence' takes place.
The purpose is to draw students' attention to the issues of domestic violence, human trafficking prevention, women's rights protection, and the fight against child abuse. Thematic events will be held in educational institutions in Odessa.
During November and December, young residents of Odessa will participate in events celebrating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a citywide amateur video contest on violence prevention, and a flash mob titled 'A Person Begins with Kindness' on social media.
Schools will host: a unified educational hour 'Together Against Violence', an exhibition of children's drawings/photo works '#HappyFamilyinOdessa', workshops, case meetings, training sessions, quests, roundtable discussions, interactive five-minute sessions, and video screenings.
For high school parliament members, an interactive card game 'Let's Create a Safety Circle!' and the interactive game 'Youth and Police Together Against Violence' will be conducted.
During the '16 Days Against Violence' campaign, the results of the city competition 'How I Understand Gender' will also be summarized.
For educators, there will be a psychological film club meeting discussing a relevant film, training on the 'Safety Circle' game methodology, and practical seminars with elements of training on collaboration mechanisms with other organizations regarding domestic violence prevention, gender-based violence, and bullying.
Psychological service specialists will address the issues of domestic violence and bullying prevention in schools during training sessions and workshops.
With the participation of representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations working on violence prevention, informational parent workshops, lectures, and consultations titled 'Family - A Space Without Violence' will be held.
