Gas Supply Restoration: Ukraine's New Import Figures

Since the beginning of 2025, the company "Naftogaz" has imported approximately 800 million cubic meters of gas in response to hostile attacks and reduced extraction levels.

This was reported by the press service of "Naftogaz".

The acting Chairman of Naftogaz, Roman Chumak, mentioned this during a meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome.

"Due to the attacks, gas extraction has been reduced, so our primary task is to repair damaged facilities and restore extraction before the start of the new heating season.

Additionally, the Group continues to import gas to compensate for losses and build sufficient reserves – around 800 million cubic meters of gas have been imported since the beginning of the year," the statement said.

Naftogaz also reported that work is ongoing with the government and international partners to seek funding opportunities for the required gas volumes for the upcoming winter.

Reminder:

Ukraine may import a record 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and depletion of reserves.
