New Accessible Toilets Coming to Odesa
Odesa is set to introduce automatic modular toilets designed specifically for people with disabilities. This initiative was discussed during a recent meeting of the Barrier-Free Council chaired by Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
In response to a request from the expert group, the Department of Urban Development studied the implementation of similar projects in Ukraine, particularly in Kyiv.
At the meeting, a model featuring two booths was presented, one of which is spacious enough to accommodate a wheelchair user or a mother with a stroller. The metal anti-corrosion booth is equipped with an automatic cleaning function, motion sensors for each feature, and a system for automatic unlocking after 15 minutes. It also includes a call button for an operator and a module for cashless payments.
The proposal to install these automatic modular toilets at Soborna Square, in the City Garden, on Primorsky Boulevard, and on the Avenue of Ukrainian Heroes will be submitted for consideration by the Odesa City Council.
