Odessa Heating Plant Undergoes Chimney Reconstruction: Key Facts

On November 12, one of the heating plants in Odessa was forced to stop operations for six hours due to chimney repairs.

Following the previous heating season, the municipal enterprise KP "TMO" ordered a complete inspection of all chimneys. In June, it was determined that one chimney at "North-1" required urgent repair work.

According to Odessa's deputy mayor, Hanna Pozdnyakova, there are no similar cases in Ukraine considering the height of this chimney, which is 120 meters. A crane with a lifting capacity of 600 tons and a weight of 970 tons was ordered for the job.

There are only a few such cranes in Ukraine, and they are typically used for restoration work in the energy sector after attacks.

"Initially, we planned for the crane to be on-site back in August, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the schedule was significantly delayed — the equipment was engaged in other critical tasks. Additionally, the high level of work requires highly qualified specialists, which has also proven to be a challenge in our current reality. We are working under the circumstances that we cannot influence," noted Hanna Pozdnyakova.

KP "TMO" apologizes for the temporary inconveniences and assures that it is making every effort to ensure stable heating supply for the residents of Odessa throughout the heating season.
