Odessa's Partnership with France in Healthcare
The city of Odessa has entered into an agreement with France aimed at improving healthcare services. A key element of this agreement is the establishment of a Mental Health Center within one of Odessa's clinical hospitals.
The ongoing military conflicts have significantly impacted many individuals, especially veterans and internally displaced persons. It is essential to provide access to quality psychological and psychiatric care for all residents of the city.
Currently, a working group in Odessa is assessing the technical state and infrastructure of medical institutions. French doctors are expected to visit our hospitals in the near future to share their professional experience and skills.
«Our goal is to work with Expertise France to create conditions in which anyone in need of help can receive it promptly and without barriers. Supporting mental health is not just about treating illnesses; it involves prevention, education, and overcoming stigma. We aim to build a healthy community where everyone feels secure», emphasized Gennadiy Trukhanov.
The Mayor of Odessa expressed gratitude to the French people and the French government for their attention to our city and invaluable assistance, highlighting the significant contribution of the French Embassy in Ukraine to the development of cooperation and support for municipal initiatives.
On behalf of the Odessa City Council, the memorandum was signed by Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov, while from the French side, it was signed by Ms. Sofia Oliynyk, director of Expertise France in Ukraine, which is a structural unit of the French Development Agency (AFD).
Also present at the signing of the memorandum were Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Mr. Igor Kopach and the head of the French Development Agency (AFD) office in Ukraine Ms. Axelle Nos.
The memorandum outlines global cooperation in the field of healthcare, specifically addressing issues related to mental health, rehabilitation, oncology, and cardiovascular diseases.
