Storm in Odessa: Consequences of Bad Weather

Odessa is experiencing severe weather conditions. As of this morning, gusts of wind have knocked down 47 trees and large branches.

There are also several cases of downed power lines and street lighting outages.

City services are working to address the aftermath of the storm.

Emergency situations are being handled by specialists from municipal enterprises such as «Miskzelentrest», «City Roads», «Housing and Utility Services», and «Odessmisksvitlo».

The municipal workers are sawing fallen trees and removing them, as well as cleaning the streets from debris.

Initially, the specialists from «Miskzelentrest» and «City Roads» are clearing fallen trees from roads, highways, and pedestrian paths, as well as removing trees that obstruct access to socially important facilities. Workers from «Housing and Utility Services» are working in courtyard areas.

Currently, 44 addresses have been processed, with 3 more ongoing.

Specialists from «City Roads» are also cleaning storm drain grates, flushing pipes, and clearing collectors. A total of 269 workers and 48 pieces of specialized equipment are operating on the streets. No street flooding has been recorded so far.

Drivers are urged not to leave vehicles on storm drain grates or close to them, as this complicates the work of specialized equipment.

According to meteorologists, gusty winds of 15-20 m/sec will persist throughout the day in Odessa.

Due to adverse weather conditions, the Odessa city hall urges residents and visitors to be cautious, limit movement and travels around the city, especially for the elderly, children, and pregnant women.
Please do not leave vehicles under trees and power lines, and be careful when moving near trees - due to rain and gusty winds, branches and wires may fall.

The storm in the Black Sea has heightened the mine danger. There is a high likelihood of sea mines breaking loose from their anchors and washing ashore, as well as drifting along the coast. We again remind Odessa residents and visitors that the danger of being in beach areas is extremely high. There is a significant risk of uncontrolled mine explosions, especially during stormy weather. If a sea mine (or similar object) is found, do not touch it under any circumstances. It is essential to report it immediately by calling 102.
