Enhancing Barrier-Free Accessibility in Odesa

In Odesa, the implementation of new standards for a barrier-free route is underway.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy has unveiled a new design for communications that supports the realization of the National Strategy for 2030.

The design system includes:

  • a unique logo;
  • established rules for font and color usage;
  • a visual concept,
  • based on six aspects of barrier-free access:
  • physical;
  • informational;
  • educational;
  • digital;
  • civic;
  • economic.

Each of these areas is represented by a distinct point in the logo, together forming a circle — a symbol of unity, inclusion, and equality for all.

This logo is currently being used for marking the new barrier-free route in Odesa.

This is a significant step in an important initiative led by Odesa’s mayor, Hennadii Trukhanov, as part of the “Movement Without Barriers” pilot project. The marking is being carried out by expert groups from the Barrier-Free Council, involving individuals with disabilities, urban planners, and accessibility specialists.
