Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleschunov was a remarkable individual, an engineer, and a well-known mountaineer. A mountain pass in Eastern Pamir and a peak at the junction of the Garmo and Vavilov glaciers are named after him. In addition to mountaineering, he dedicated much of his life to collecting art pieces.

At the end of his life, he donated his collection to his hometown. On January 28, 1989, the Museum of Personal Collections was opened in Odessa, which has been named after O. V. Bleschunov since 1992.

This unique collection, comprising over 10,000 items including world-class rarities, is part of the State Museum Fund of Ukraine. In recognition of Alexander Volodymyrovych Bleschunov's contributions to the city, his star was ceremoniously unveiled on the Walk of Fame in Odessa on September 2, 2019.
