New Legislative Proposals on Martial Law in Ukraine
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has submitted new legislative proposals to the Parliament aimed at extending martial law and general mobilization for an additional 90 days. If approved by the Parliament, these measures will be in effect until August 6, 2025.
The relevant bills, numbered №13172 and №13173, have been registered on the Parliament's official website.
As of the morning of April 15, both documents have been forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence for consideration. In the texts, the President proposes to confirm the respective decrees for the extension of martial law and mobilization for a period of 90 days.
According to the text of the mobilization bill (№13173), it is expected to come into force on May 9, 2025, following its announcement through the media.
The bill concerning the extension of martial law (№13172) is anticipated to take effect from the day of its publication after being passed by the Parliament and signed by the President.
Details on the continuation of mobilization and martial law in Ukraine
On February 5, the President signed laws extending mobilization and martial law until May 9, 2025.
On November 6, Zelensky signed laws extending mobilization and martial law until February 7, 2025.
Earlier, the Parliament approved a law to confirm the President's decree extending martial law in Ukraine from November 10 for a period of 90 days.
