Honoring a Hero: Yevhen Kaus at the Invictus Winter Games
The mayor of Odesa, Hennadii Trukhanov, presented the Honorable Badge of «Gratitude» to Yevhen Kaus, a participant in the 2025 Invictus Winter Games.
Yevhen is a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war, a member of the «Federation of Marine Multi-Sports of Ukraine» in the Odesa region, and a certified rowing coach.
He fought in the Kherson direction, where he sustained injuries. After demobilization and a rehabilitation course, Yevhen took up powerlifting and archery, becoming a rowing coach. In 2024, he and his rowing team covered a distance of 55 km, earning the silver FORTIS ring for their achievement. Yevhen qualified for the national team for the Invictus Games.
At the inaugural Invictus Winter Games in Canada, he represented Odesa in three sports: curling, biathlon, and skeleton.
This year, the Ukrainian team was represented by a record 35 military personnel and veterans.
