Targeted Strike on Energy Infrastructure: Challenges for Ukraine
On the night of August 6, Russian forces carried out a targeted strike on a compressor station operated by Ukraine's GTS Operator, located in the Odesa region near the Romanian border.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy.
According to the ministry, this facility was a crucial part of the route connecting Greek LNG terminals with Ukrainian gas storage facilities through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, which has already seen LNG supplies from the USA and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas.
Last night, the infrastructure supporting these supplies was attacked by dozens of strike drones, the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
“This massive drone attack on a key compressor station indicates that Moscow will use all available means to undermine the energy independence of Europeans and alternative gas supply routes,” stated Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.
“If the Russians are allowed to attack our energy infrastructure and gas routes with impunity, no infrastructure in Europe will be safe,” she added.
