Russian Forces Launch Massive Attack on Ukraine
In the night from July 11 to July 12, the Ukrainian sky became a battleground again as Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine using drones and missiles. Explosions were heard in various regions, including the capital. Lviv and Kharkiv also suffered strikes.
This information was confirmed by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Capital City Military Administration, as well as on the alert map.
According to the Air Force, a significant number of Russian drones were observed over most regions of the country. Explosions were reported in Kyiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Kherson, and Mykolaiv.
The authorities urge citizens to remain in shelters until the air alert is lifted.
Updated: At 01:09, military officials reported a large concentration of strike drones in several regions of Ukraine.
Quote from the Air Force: "A large concentration of drones has been detected over Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, eastern Zhytomyr, western Sumy, and northern Odesa regions. Strike drones are moving chaotically in the airspace of these areas! Stay safe and remain in shelters!".
At 03:23, the military warned of a fast-moving target in Sumy region heading towards Poltava. Another target was seen in Kharkiv region, also heading towards Poltava.
As of 03:50, six Russian cruise missiles were reported moving towards Kremenchuk Reservoir, according to the Air Force.
One missile is heading through Lysjanka towards Kyiv!
Updated at 04:00. Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi confirmed the reports of an impact in the city.
The mayor stated: "The main concern right now is the safety of every resident, so I strongly urge you to stay in shelters until the air alert is over".
As of 04:54, according to the Air Force, Russian missiles were moving towards Rohatyn, Khodoryv, Shumsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Rudno, Zboriv, Berestetske, and Lutsk.
Around five o'clock in the morning on July 12, the Russian army struck a residential area in a Kyiv district with a guided aerial bomb (GAB). There are casualties as a result of the attack.
Updated: At 05:18, the authorities announced the lifting of the air alert.
