Return of Fallen Soldiers: Latest Updates
Ukraine has successfully repatriated 909 bodies of soldiers who lost their lives in combat.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Details on the return of fallen soldiers
Bodies of warriors were returned from the following areas:
- Kurakhiv
- Pokrovsk
- Bakhmut
- Vuhledar
- Luhansk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Sumy
- Kharkiv
Additionally, bodies were returned from morgues located in Russia.
The repatriation was facilitated by the joint efforts of the Coordination Headquarters, the Ministry of Reintegration, the authorized representative on missing persons, and various international organizations.
The bodies will be transported to designated state facilities where law enforcement and forensic experts will identify the deceased.
Following this, the bodies of Ukraine's fallen defenders will be handed over to their relatives for burial.
Recent repatriation efforts - what is known
On March 28, 909 bodies of fallen soldiers were returned.
On February 14, Ukraine repatriated 757 bodies of soldiers who died in different battles.
On January 24, 757 bodies were returned.
On December 20, 503 bodies were returned.
On November 29, 502 bodies of military personnel were repatriated.
On November 8, 563 bodies were returned.
On October 18, 501 bodies were returned.
On August 2, 250 bodies of fallen soldiers from various fronts, including from Mariupol and Horlivka, were returned from Russia's morgues.
On June 14, 254 bodies were returned, which will be handed over to families after identification.
