Open Badminton Tournament in Odesa
On November 10, 2024, an open cup organized by the Odesa regional organization of the Physical Culture and Sports Society «Ukraine» took place in the gym of the Comprehensive Children's and Youth Sports School No. 5.
The competition was dedicated to the memory of the prominent Odesa sports figure Mykola Barabash.
This tournament, held for the second time in Odesa, became a true celebration for young badminton enthusiasts.
A total of 22 participants competed in the event.
The tournament was held in the «mixed» category: a young man and a woman.
The winners and prize winners among juniors were:
1st place - Mykola Cherniyenko / Veronika Simova;
2nd place - Lev Talpa / Daria Popova;
3rd place - Mykola Tsvetus / Anastasia Savitska.
Among the boys, the places were distributed as follows:
1st place - Pavlo Vasiliyoglo / Daria Boris;
2nd place - Timofiy Glushin / Vladislava Kimlyk;
3rd place - Sergey Mukhin / Elena Morozova.
The athletes were trained by coaches Vladimir Bilous, Daria Sibiryakova, and Valery Karpov.
Note
Mykola Martynovych Barabash was a distinguished specialist in physical culture and sports, having trained many athletes who competently represent our country in domestic and international competitions.
He served as vice-president of the Badminton Federation of Ukraine and was a member of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
His talent as an organizer was recognized with awards from the European and World Badminton Federations.
A master of sports in archery and badminton, a distinguished coach of Ukraine, an international referee, and a distinguished worker of physical culture and sports in Ukraine.
