New Opportunities for Sports Development in Odessa Region
A representative from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine visited the Odessa Regional Greco-Roman Wrestling Club «GREEK», which is part of a new initiative by the Ministry.
Recall that in February of this year, the Odessa regional administration signed an important memorandum with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine for collaboration under the project — «Experiment». The main goal is to support clubs established by public organizations to improve the region's sports infrastructure.
This experiment enables the creation of an effective model for transitioning to a club system for organizing sports activities and enhances the role of sports clubs with the status of public organizations.
Participants in the meeting included:
- Anton Shalyhaylo — Deputy Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration
- Tatyana Semenik — Deputy Director of the Department of Mass Sports and National Health
- Viktor Synyavskyi — Acting Head of the Physical Culture and Sports Department of the Odessa Regional State Administration
- Alexander Grabovan — Chairman of the Board of the «GREEK» club
Currently, the club has four coaches, and over 160 athletes are involved. Training sessions take place in Odessa, Chornomorsk, Podilsk, and the village of Gradenytsi.
During the visit, participants learned about the club's activities, interacted with coaches and athletes, and observed training processes.
This experiment is being funded by the regional budget.
«We are confidently advancing in the development of sports in the Odessa region. The implementation of this project opens new perspectives for youth, promotes physical development, and fosters a healthy nation. Developing sports infrastructure and supporting coaches and athletes is an investment in the future of our region, in the health and success of every child and family,» emphasized Anton Shalyhaylo.
Odessa continues to support initiatives aimed at enhancing the region's sports potential and creating new opportunities for youth.
