Ukraine Triathlon Championship: Veterans Shine

On July 13, the Ukraine Triathlon (Aquathlon) Championship for veterans took place on the Black Sea coast in Odessa.

The competition attracted 283 participants from various cities: Odessa, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Bila Tserkva, Lviv, Donetsk region, Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Kryvyi Rih, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, and other cities in Ukraine.

The swimming segment (1 km, 2 km, 4 km) was held in the coastal area, from the “Chayka” beach (starting point) to the yacht club (Novoberhova Street) and back. The running segment (5 km, 10 km, 20 km) followed the Health Trail - from the “Chayka” beach to the “Golden Coast” beach and back.

In the overall standings for the absolute distance, Andriy Kushnerov (Kyiv) claimed victory with a time of 46:13, followed by Serhiy Zviahin (Kyiv) at 53:18, and local athlete Petro Vasyliiev took third place at 58:09.

In the “long” aquathlon (2+10 km), Odessa's Vadym Maslenikov won with a time of 1:13:01, while Kyiv's Serhiy Chernyshov secured silver at 1:14:53, and fellow Kyiv resident Serhiy Yanhicher took bronze at 1:16:35.

In the “Standard” aquathlon (1+5 km), Kyiv's Andriy Pechenyi celebrated victory at 33:28, with his compatriot Semen Tereshchenko finishing second at 34:07, and Odessa's Denys Polyakov claiming bronze at 35:08.

Among women in this distance, all podium spots were taken by Kyiv athletes. The champion was Anastasiya Ihnatkina, followed by Nadiia Somina in second and Iryna Krotova in third.

The event was organized by the Odesa Regional Triathlon Federation with the support of the Odesa City Council.
