Awareness Campaign in Odesa for European Anti-Human Trafficking Day
An awareness campaign took place in Odesa to honor the European Day Against Human Trafficking.
Every year on October 18, European countries commemorate this day, initiated by the European Commission in 2007 to raise public awareness about modern slavery and the need to protect victims' rights.
In the context of a prolonged war in Ukraine, the issue of combating human trafficking has become increasingly urgent. The war has created numerous risks, including a rise in internally displaced persons, unemployment, and loss of documents.
Before the European Day Against Human Trafficking, the Department of Labor and Social Policy of the Odesa City Council organized an event to draw attention to this issue and raise public awareness.
The event involved specialists from social services, representatives of NGOs, legal aid providers, and cadets from the University of Internal Affairs. Informational materials were distributed, and consultations were provided.
Everyone can contribute to combating human trafficking – by being vigilant, not being indifferent, and spreading accurate information.
