Honoring Roman Schwartzman in Odessa

During the City Day celebrations in Odessa, a new book by Roman Schwartzman titled «Roman Schwartzman: From Ghetto to Bundestag» was presented, alongside a ceremonial event honoring the author, who has dedicated his life to preserving historical memory.

By the decision of the Odessa City Council, Roman Schwartzman has been awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the city.

The reception, organized by Roman Markovich himself, gathered distinguished guests, including representatives from the German delegation who were invited following his memorable speech in the Bundestag.

The mayor of Odessa expressed his gratitude to Roman Schwartzman for his unique role in the city’s life.

«This is a person whom Odessa takes great pride in. He has gone through the horrors of the ghetto, loss, and persecution, yet has preserved his dignity and memory. Every day, he lives for this city, cares for it, represents Odessa on an international level, and brings its voice to the world. His daily work, openness, and kindness are an example for all of us,» said Gennady Trukhanov.

During the gathering, heartfelt words of thanks were spoken by guests who expressed their admiration for Roman Schwartzman and his efforts. This day served as a reminder of the importance of memory, humanity, and unity.
