Meta Unveils Latest Llama 4 Models

On Saturday, Meta Platforms released the latest version of its large language model named Llama 4 Scout and Llama 4 Maverick.

This was reported by Reuters.

Meta states that Llama is a multimodal artificial intelligence system.

Multimodal systems are capable of processing and integrating different types of data, including text, video, images, and audio, and can convert content between these formats.

Meta added that Llama 4 Maverick and Llama 4 Scout will have open-source software.

The company also announced a preview of Llama 4 Behemoth, which it describes as “one of the smartest LLMs in the world and our most powerful, serving as a teacher for our new models.”

Major tech firms are actively investing in artificial intelligence infrastructure following the success of OpenAI's ChatGPT, which has transformed the technological landscape and driven investments in machine learning.

On Friday, The Information reported that Meta postponed the launch of the latest LLM version due to Llama 4 not meeting Meta's expectations in technical testing, particularly in reasoning and mathematical tasks.

The company also expressed concern that Llama 4 was less capable than OpenAI models in conducting human-like voice conversations, the report added.
