Honoring Heroes: A New Memorial for Ukraine's Defenders

The ceremony was attended by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, and other officials.

The President of Ukraine listened to the report from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, Hennadii Popenko. The cemetery has been equipped with sectors for honorary burials, two columbariums have been built, and engineering networks have been installed. For visitors, a parking lot and a shuttle service are available. The President arrived by this shuttle today.

A separate area has been designated for the burial of soldiers whose names are not yet known. An Avenue of Memory is also being created here, symbolizing the tribute to the fallen.

The memorial will feature unified burials. Initially, temporary crosses will be set up, and after a year, permanent headstones will be established, chosen by the families of the deceased.

Today, five defenders whose names are currently unknown were buried. The burials of unidentified heroes will continue at the cemetery.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of the fallen soldiers.
