New Financial Assistance for First Graders

The Ukrainian government has announced a new financial assistance initiative called the «School Package» at the request of the President. Families sending their children to the first grade will receive a monetary aid of 5,000 hryvnias.

This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting.

«The aid will amount to 5,000 hryvnias and is designated for those sending their children to offline classes», — explained Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister noted that the funds could be used for purchasing stationery, books, children’s clothing, and shoes, all essential for preparing children for the new school year.

Applications for the financial aid can be submitted via the «Diia» app or portal.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the process will be «convenient and simple». The funds can only be spent cashless, using a card at stores selling appropriate school supplies.

He also highlighted that this payment will not affect the receipt of subsidies or other forms of social assistance.

«The Ministry of Social Policy will communicate all details, including the start date for applications», — he added.

The head of the government noted that the launch of the «School Package» is part of a series of new initiatives aimed at creating conditions for Ukrainians to live and work in Ukraine.

Previously, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the government is developing a comprehensive social support system for families with children, covering all stages from pregnancy to adulthood. The new model aims to replace fragmented programs with a cohesive strategy that includes medical, social, and educational support.
