Interesting Facts About Meadow Birds
A staff member of the National Park, biologist Alex Johnson, shared some important insights.
According to him, meadow pipits typically inhabit broad muddy shores of lagoons and salt marshes, where they find cozy nesting spots.
These birds are known for their smooth and graceful flight, characterized by high speed and varied movements. They primarily catch their food, mainly insects, while soaring through the air.
Across much of their European range, the population of meadow pipits is significantly declining due to environmental changes, noted the biologist.
He also emphasized that meadow pipits, as a rare species, are protected under the Red Book of Ukraine, the Bonn and Bern Conventions, the AEWA Agreement, and the EU Birds Directive.
