Advancements in Land De-mining in Ukraine
In Ukraine, 426 applications from citizens have been submitted for the de-mining of agricultural lands under the state compensation program, with more than 1,500 hectares cleared in 2025.
This was reported during a televised broadcast by Volodymyr Baida, director of the Humanitarian De-mining Center (HDC), as conveyed by Ukrinform.
“There has been considerable progress in the program. So far, we have received 426 applications covering over 14,000 hectares of agricultural land (previously, only 3,000 hectares had been cleared over the past three years).
We have already conducted 65 auctions, with contracts signed totaling 835 million UAH. Regarding the cleared territory, more than 1,500 hectares have been cleared this year,” he stated.
According to Baida, 3 billion UAH have been allocated for the program in 2025.
“Farmers are much more active this year. Last year, out of 85 operators, only eight participated in the auctions, but now around 20 are involved,” Baida noted.
He clarified that out of 235 applications this year, 110 were rejected due to the absence of non-technical land assessment.
