Robbery in the City Center: Suspect Apprehended
A perpetrator approached the victim under the pretense of conversation and seized his valuable jewelry at the right moment. With a criminal record, this individual has spent over 11 years in prison and now faces up to 10 years for his new crime.
A 33-year-old man reported to the police that he had been robbed in the city center. Law enforcement quickly responded, apprehending the offender who had attempted to hide in the entrance of a residential building.
According to the deputy head of the investigative department of Police Station No. 1 of the Odessa District Police, the criminal noticed a gold chain on the neck of an unfamiliar citizen, approached him, started a conversation, and then suddenly snatched the jewelry and fled.
The total value of the stolen items was 35 thousand hryvnias, but the perpetrator was unable to utilize them. He refused to explain his criminal actions.
The arrested individual had previous convictions for theft, robbery, and attempted murder. He has spent over 11 years in correctional facilities.
“We have charged him with open theft of someone else's property, which is a repeated robbery during martial law. According to part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years. The suspect is currently in a temporary detention center, and we are considering measures for his preventive detention,” said Police Captain Irina Yablonskaya.
The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Black Sea District Prosecutor's Office.
