Teenage Mischief Leads to Police Intervention
Fortunately, no one was harmed due to the reckless antics of the teenagers. Law enforcement conducted preventive talks with the children and filed administrative reports against the parents, who now face fines.
Recently, during an internet monitoring session, police discovered a video in a messaging group showing four teenagers mixing household chemicals in a bottle in the entrance of an apartment building and throwing it onto the staircase, resulting in an explosion.
After documenting the incident, juvenile inspectors from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi police department managed to identify and locate the boys.
The police learned that the 12-year-old local friends repeated an experiment they had seen on a social media platform for fun.
“These families had not previously come to the attention of law enforcement. We warned the youths about the dangers of such antics and reminded the parents of their responsibility to supervise where and with whom their children spend their leisure time. We filed reports against the adults under Part 1 of Article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. This law pertains to the failure of parents or guardians to fulfill their responsibilities in ensuring the necessary conditions for the life, education, and upbringing of minors. This violation is punishable by a fine of up to 1,700 UAH. The administrative materials have been sent to court,” commented Pavlo Bobchynskyi, the chief of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi police department.
Police urge parents to pay more attention to their children, explaining the dangers posed by household chemicals and other substances that may explode, cause burns, and lead to various injuries, as well as the consequences of illegal actions.
