Tragedy in Odesa Village: Girl Injured Due to Negligence
A tragic incident occurred in a small village in Odesa where a 50-year-old grandmother accidentally shot and injured her 5-year-old granddaughter while trying to hide a pneumatic rifle. The information about the incident was relayed to the National Police by medical staff.
On April 20, the doctors reported the hospitalization of the girl to the Odesa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, suffering from injuries to her lower jaw and neck. During the investigation, police discovered that the woman from the Izmail district intended to conceal the dangerous item at home, but accidentally discharged the weapon, injuring her granddaughter who was nearby.
The investigators from the Izmail District Police Department initiated a criminal proceeding regarding the injury to the child, categorizing it as negligent infliction of bodily harm. The maximum penalty for this offense could be up to two years of imprisonment.
"A number of forensic examinations have been appointed within the framework of the proceedings to establish all circumstances of the incident. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Izmail District Prosecutor's Office" - the statement reads.
