Fatal Dispute in the Woods: Two Men Under Investigation

Last October, a mutilated and charred body was discovered in a forest near a village in the Balta territorial community. The investigation revealed that two men, aged 62 and 29, were involved, having shared drinks with the victim.

This was reported by the police of the Odessa region.

During the gathering, a dispute escalated into a fight – the guests against the host. The 29-year-old restrained the homeowner while the older man stabbed him fatally in the chest with a knife he carried. This blow was lethal, and the victim died on the spot.

To cover up the crime and complicate the identification of the deceased, the offenders transported the body to a forest area where they mutilated it, including decapitating it, and set it on fire. The younger suspect was apprehended at his home.

During the pre-trial investigation, the court chose to remand him in custody without the right to bail.

The older man fled immediately after the crime and has been hiding from investigators. His case has been separated into a different proceeding, and he is wanted.

The vehicle used by the suspects, communication devices, and other items of evidential value were seized and added to the case materials after expert examinations.

The pre-trial investigation against the 29-year-old, who has a prior conviction for property crimes, is complete.

He is accused of murder committed in conspiracy with a group of individuals. The case has been sent to court.

The maximum penalty for this crime is life imprisonment.
