Increase in Electricity Imports to Ukraine

From July 7 to 11, the volume of electricity imported into Ukraine doubled, reaching 44 thousand MWh. Meanwhile, exports fell to 32.2 thousand MWh.

This information is provided by ExPro monitoring.

It is noted that the highest levels of import occur during evening peak load hours.

“Currently, imports during peak hours may exceed 1 GW, which is a significant contribution to maintaining stability. Under the current circumstances, imports may once again become a critical component for the energy system during peak consumption hours,” analysts report.

They also add that “the need for long-term forecasted imports brings the development of auctions for access to cross-border transfers to the forefront.”
