New Funding for School Shelter Enhancements in Ukraine
During the Cabinet of Ministers meeting on April 18, a decision was made to allocate a grant of 830 million UAH for the enhancement of shelters in general secondary schools.
This information was confirmed by Taras Melnychuk, a Cabinet representative in the Verkhovna Rada, via his Telegram channel.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated: "These funds are intended to continue the work on enhancing shelters and ensuring safe conditions in educational institutions. Funding will be received by 15 communities and regional budgets in the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions."
According to the Prime Minister, over the past two years, the government has allocated a record 14 billion UAH for school shelters.
Additionally, in 2024, Kyiv has allocated 2.4 billion UAH for the enhancement of shelters, improving fire safety in schools, preparing them for winter, and creating educational centers for the subject "Defense of Ukraine."
