Arrest of Young Man for Drug Distribution
A 20-year-old man has been charged and a preventive measure has been imposed. He faces imprisonment.
Patrol officers stopped a local resident on the Health Route in the afternoon, where he was laying «stash» with prohibited substances. The investigative team from the police department No. 2 of the Odessa district police department No. 1 seized a total of 22 zip bags of psychotropic substances from hiding places and from the suspect himself, which were confirmed by express tests and sent for examination.
Law enforcement detained the suspect in a procedural manner, and during the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the individual, communicating with an unknown supplier over the internet, received illegal goods by mail, packaged them at home, and distributed them through «stash». He recorded these locations on his mobile phone, which has also been seized, and sent addresses and photos to buyers.
As stated by investigator Marina Yermolenko from the territorial police unit, based on sufficient evidence, the suspect has been charged under parts 1 and 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – for illegal acquisition, storage for sale, and also illegal sale of psychotropic substances, including repeat offenses. The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 60,565 hryvnias. According to current legislation, the violator faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to 10 years with confiscation of property.
During the pre-trial investigation, police will identify individuals involved in drug trafficking. The investigation continues under the procedural guidance of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office of Odessa.
