Enhancements Made to Maternity Hospital No. 5 in Odesa
The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting with representatives from the International Medical Corps to discuss new initiatives.
In 2024, with the help of the International Medical Corps, a major renovation of the shelter at Maternity Hospital No. 5 was completed, including updates to the ventilation, water supply, heating, and drainage systems.
The shelter is equipped with a full set of medical equipment and a powerful oxygen concentrator for artificial lung ventilation.
Currently, all conditions are created for delivering babies and providing medical assistance to mothers and infants.
Additionally, the International Medical Corps has renovated basement areas to open a temporary shelter for residents of nearby buildings.
"I thank our partners for their support. We have provided the maternity hospital with three powerful generators for backup power. This ensures autonomous power supply for the shelter and the women's consultation center," emphasized Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Furthermore, modern resuscitation equipment for the intensive care unit and a Class C ambulance have been purchased with city budget funds.
Maternity Hospital No. 5 specializes in providing obstetric assistance for premature births and intensive care for newborns with extremely low birth weight—starting from 500 grams.
