Restoration of the Building in Odessa After Missile Strike
The building located at 24 Serednia Street in Odessa, which suffered severe damage from a missile strike on December 29, 2023, has been successfully restored and is ready for use.
The strike destroyed critical structural elements of the building from the first to the sixth floor, including three columns and two shear walls.
After urgent reinforcement of the structures and initial emergency works by the company 'Stikon', large-scale restoration efforts began.
Continuous geodetic monitoring helped prevent further damage and shifts. As part of the restoration, a new reinforced concrete frame, ceilings, and walls were installed; external and internal walls were restored; all engineering networks, electrical panels, fire safety systems were renewed, new elevators were installed, and the territory was beautified.
Currently, all major construction and installation works have been completed. The total funding from the city budget amounted to nearly 37 million UAH, which was directed towards emergency measures, structural restoration, and assistance to affected residents for window and door replacements.
“Today we have the second building in the city fully restored after enemy attacks. Residents had almost lost hope of returning to their apartments - and now we see tears in their eyes. This building was almost completely destroyed, but thanks to the joint efforts of the team — builders, utility services, deputies, the Academy of Construction — we stopped the destruction and restored the home. This is a significant achievement, and I am sincerely grateful to everyone who contributed,” said Odessa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Residents whose apartments suffered the most damage are encouraged to apply to the state program 'eRecovery', where they can receive compensation for repairs up to 350,000 UAH. The city will also assist with the necessary documentation.
Odessa continues its systematic work on restoring the affected housing infrastructure and supporting residents.
