New Insights and Support for Affected Residents
On the night of May 1, 2025, a significant incident occurred in Odessa when a drone strike damaged a residential building on Prince Yaroslav the Wise Avenue. The expert committee has declared the building unsafe.
Currently, efforts are underway to stabilize the structure. Odessa's mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, visited the site to assess the progress of the repairs.
«Since May 16, a large crane has been operational at the site. Emergency work has been completed, and stabilization is ongoing. It is planned that by June 10, residents of the first entrance will be able to return to their apartments», — stated the mayor.
Concerning the second entrance, which was also hit by the drone, a project for major repairs will be developed after stabilization works are completed, to determine the necessary funds for restoration.
Head of the Kyiv District Administration, Marina Lozovenko, announced that residents of the building will be offered compensation from the city budget for housing rental during this period.
Additionally, city councilor Veronika Etnarovich, who coordinates work with NGOs, informed that 156 apartments from this building will receive financial assistance of 10,800 UAH for each registered family member (a total of 355 people) from the NGO «Tenth of April» with support from Mercy Corps.
