New Transportation Corridor Linking Greece and Ukraine
The Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has proposed the idea of a new "transportation corridor" that would link the port of Alexandroupolis with Odessa via Romania and Bulgaria.
As reported by "Interfax-Ukraine" and "European Truth", Mitsotakis made this statement during the 4th summit of "Ukraine-South Eastern Europe" held on June 11 in Odessa.
He suggested creating a route that would connect the Greek port of Alexandroupolis with Odessa through Varna in Bulgaria and Constanta in Romania, covering approximately 700 km.
"I envision Odessa as the endpoint of an ambitious infrastructure development project starting from the Alexandroupolis port, passing through Varna, Constanta, and finally reaching Odessa. This is an initiative that could be proposed for EU funding," said the Prime Minister.
In his view, this could be a multifaceted project that includes railway tracks, power lines, and pipelines, with transportation potentially being faster than maritime options.
He emphasized that the project would provide "a clear and tangible vision of how Ukraine's integration into the EU could genuinely transform the lives of Ukrainians."
