Emergency Events in Odesa Oblast

In the past 24 hours, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Odesa Oblast recorded 48 incidents, of which 43 were fires and several involved assisting elderly citizens. The most unusual discovery was an anti-tank mine TM-62 from World War II found in the Peresyp district of Odesa.

According to the State Emergency Service, there were 48 recorded events, with 43 being fires: 3 in the city and 40 in the region. The majority of the calls were related to wildfires, with rescuers responding to 38 incidents covering approximately 8.6 hectares, indicating a high risk of natural fires during hot weather.

“Total events - 48. Fires - 43. In the city - 3, in the region - 40 (including 38 responses to wildfires, covering an area of about 8.6 hectares),” the Odesa Emergency Service reported.

Among other incidents, notable cases included rescues involving medical assistance and support for the elderly. Yesterday morning in the city of Pivdenne on Khimikiv Street, rescuers transported a citizen born in 1960 from his apartment to an ambulance. In two other instances, rescuers had to open apartment doors to assist elderly women.

In the Khadzhybei district of Odesa on Ivana and Yuria Lip streets, rescuers opened the door to an apartment where a woman born in 1937 had fallen and was unable to get up. A similar situation occurred during the day in the city of Podilsk on Dalniy Lane, where rescuers helped a woman born in 1948 who also fell and could not get up on her own.

The most unusual event was the discovery of an explosive device from World War II. Yesterday afternoon in the Peresyp district of Odesa on Hrushevskyi Street, one TM-62 anti-tank mine was found, with its destruction planned for today. Such discoveries remind us of the military past of the region and the need for caution during excavation work.

The statistics of events demonstrate the diverse challenges faced by Odesa rescuers: from combating natural fires to assisting elderly citizens and disposing of outdated munitions. The issue of wildfires remains particularly relevant in high-temperature conditions.
