Criminal Sentenced: 7 Years for Robbery
A repeat offender stole a phone from a victim after initially offering to help him navigate the city. For this crime, he will spend seven years behind bars.
Recall that the incident took place in February this year in the Primorsky district of Odesa. During lunchtime, a local resident noticed a disoriented elderly man who had come from Berezivka for business. Pretending to be friendly, the criminal offered to show the 62-year-old grandfather the way, and at the right moment, he snatched the mobile phone from his pocket.
The police quickly located the offender in a nearby neighborhood and seized the stolen phone, which was returned to its owner.
At the time of the robbery, the 39-year-old Odesa resident already had previous convictions for property crimes. The court imposed a preventive measure of detention, which he did not post bail for.
After gathering sufficient evidence, investigators charged the suspect under Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, concerning open theft of someone else's property, specifically robbery during martial law. After completing the pre-trial investigation under the supervision of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office, the police sent the indictment to court.
Reviewing the materials, the court found the defendant guilty of robbery and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment.
