Murder in Odessa: Details of the Incident
In Odessa, law enforcement officials have arrested a man suspected of murdering his acquaintance. The assailant killed the victim using a bottle, fists, and feet, suspecting him of stealing his wallet. He has been charged, and a preventive measure has been imposed. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police.
Recently, near a high-rise building on Heroes of Krut Street, a local resident discovered a bloodied body and called the police. An investigative team and a mobile DNA laboratory were dispatched to the scene. Within half an hour, law enforcement established that a 37-year-old man with a criminal record was involved in the incident.
"Police clarified that the night before, the suspect and a 43-year-old local acquaintance had been consuming alcohol in a courtyard. During their drunken conversation, the younger man could not find his wallet and began accusing the older man of theft. In the course of the conflict, he killed him with a glass bottle, fists, and feet.
The body of the deceased was sent for forensic examination to determine the cause of death, while the suspect was located near the murder scene and apprehended. A wallet, which the suspect had not noticed in his pocket and thought was stolen, as well as bloodied clothing and other items of significance to the investigation, were seized from him," the statement said.
Investigators informed the detained individual of the suspicion of intentional murder, a crime punishable by up to 15 years of imprisonment. The court has selected a preventive measure of detention.
