Night Attack on the City: Consequences and Support for Victims
On the night of July 19, the city faced yet another massive drone attack. Residential buildings, infrastructure, and vehicles were damaged as a result. Sadly, there were casualties, including one woman who did not survive despite being rescued.
At the site of the attack, along with local authorities and services, volunteers were actively working throughout the day. The coordination of assistance was overseen by city council advisor Veronika Etnarovich.
The organization “April Tenth” partnered with UNHCR to provide comprehensive support:
- blankets, pillows, flashlights, cookware, and other essential items,
- provision of OSB boards,
- legal consultations for residents,
- psychological support.
IRC also provided on-site psychological assistance.
From the morning, teams from WCK and the charitable organization “Morning of Revival” were providing drinks and hot meals.
The “Winds of Change” Foundation delivered kits for mothers and children.
The Red Cross has been assisting victims since the night of the attack and continued their efforts during the day, distributing tarps, film, and first aid kits.
The “Rescue and Diving Service of the Odessa City Council” together with the NGO “Dobrobat” removed hazardous elements from damaged buildings and cleared the surrounding area.
Odessa expresses gratitude to its partners and UN OCHA for their support and solidarity during these challenging times.
